EU Regulatorik AML & eIDAS 2.0

Ready for the next generation of identity verification

AMLR and eIDAS 2.0 are reshaping identity verification. Learn which requirements may become relevant for financial service providers, which verification methods are expected to gain importance, and how POSTIDENT is being developed to support simpler, more flexible and future-oriented identity verification.

From national regulations to the European AMLR

From July 2027, new European standards for identity verification apply. Under the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR), many requirements that have so far been shaped by national law will be replaced or supplemented by directly applicable European regulations.

What does this mean for you as a financial service provider?

Together with eIDAS 2.0, the AMLR is expected to create more harmonised regulatory requirements for identity verification procedures and the collection of relevant customer data.

Digital identities such as the EUDI Wallet and national digital identity schemes are expected to become more important in identity verification. The EUDI Wallet is expected to play a relevant role as an identification method in the future.

Remote procedures are expected to become more flexible, including AI-supported video procedures without a live agent, photo- and video-based identification, and the option to use the electronic chip as a digital identity document. Reference transfers are expected to become less relevant.

Customers will continue to be able to identify themselves conveniently in post offices and POSTIDENT partner shops.

The new regulatory framework is expected to bring more standardisation, automation and flexibility, while also increasing requirements for data quality and security.
