If you received a reminder from Renten Service after the beginning of September to send in your proof of life, this means that Renten Service had not yet received your 2024 proof of life as of Friday, August 16, 2024. If you have already sent your 2024 life certificate by mail or have since completed the Digital Proof of Life process, no further action is required. Please bear in mind that several proofs of life may be necessary if you receive more than one pension. Renten Service in Germany must receive your proof of life by no later than Friday, October 18, 2024.

  • Pension beneficiaries residing abroad:
    Since you are entitled to German pension payments from a statutory pension or accident insurance provider, you must submit evidence upon request that you continue to meet the requirements to receive those payments.
  • Pension beneficiaries residing in Germany:
    Since you live in Germany, are a pension beneficiary of German pension payments from a statutory pension or accident insurance provider, and have a bank account abroad, you must provide annual proof of life beginning this year.

State pensions will be adjusted as of July 1, 2024.

Pensions will increase by 4.57% this year in all federal German states.

The corresponding adjustment notification will be sent out from mid-June 2024 onward.

You will receive a pension receipt notification (“Information on the notification to the tax authorities”) for every taxable pension benefit – pension amount and contributions to health and long-term care insurance – within a calendar year. The organizations making the payments issue the notification once a year by mid-March for the previous calendar year.

1. Pension receipt notification for state pensions
Deutsche Rentenversicherung (DRV) will send pension receipt notifications for state pension benefits to its pension recipients. You will automatically receive this notification if you have already applied for it once.
If you would like to apply for a pension receipt notification for the first time, you can do so simply and conveniently via the online service of Deutsche Rentenversicherung.

Note: The Pension Service cannot issue you with pension receipt notifications for state pension benefits.

 

2. Pension receipt notification for company pensions
You will automatically receive a pension receipt notification by the end of February for the previous calendar year for company pension benefits paid by the Pension Service of Deutsche Post on behalf of your previous employer.

1)      The premiums for statutory long-term care insurance will increase on July 1, 2023.
The adjusted premiums may have an influence on your pension payment amounts.
 

Long-term care insurance – with children
The contribution to long-term care insurance with children amounts to 3.4% of your pension.
The contribution will be paid by the pension insurance provider to the long-term care insurance provider.

Long-term care insurance – without children
The contribution to long-term care insurance without children amounts to 4% of your pension.
If you have (or had) children, the contribution to long-term care insurance is reduced. The decisive factor is the time when the proof was submitted to the pension insurance provider.
The contribution will be paid by the pension insurance provider to the long-term care insurance provider.
