If you are required to provide proof of life this year, you will receive the 2024 Digital Proof of Life letter and the 2024 certificate of life form together with your pension adjustment notification. They will be sent to you by letter mail sometime between mid-June and the start of August. Renten Service in Germany must receive your proof of life by Friday, August 16, 2024. If your pension adjustment notification does not include a proof-of-life request for 2024, you do not need to take any further action this year. If you receive more than one pension, more than one proof of life may be needed.

• Pension beneficiaries residing abroad:
  Since you are entitled to German pension payments from a statutory pension or accident insurance provider, you must submit evidence upon request that you continue to meet the requirements to receive those payments.
• Pension beneficiaries residing in Germany:
  Since you live in Germany, are a pension beneficiary of German pension payments from a statutory pension or accident insurance provider, and have a bank account abroad, you must provide annual proof of life beginning this year.

Requirements for your 2024 proof of life:

• Please return either the certificate of life form or the 2024 Digital Proof of Life by August 16, 2024.

• The certificate of life form must be personally signed by the pension beneficiary in Section A2 and confirmed by an authorized institution in Section B.
  • If the pension recipient is unable to write, confirmation of this fact must be provided in Section C1 of the certificate of life.
  • If the pension beneficiary is unable to visit an authorized institution in person, confirmation of this fact must be provided in Section C1 of the certificate of life. The name of the person who visited the authorized institution on behalf of the pension beneficiary must be given in Section C2.
• The original copy of the certificate of life must be returned by letter mail to the following address:

• If you receive more than one pension, more than one proof of life may be needed.
  • In this case, several forms for the 2024 certificate of life or several 2024 Digital Proof of Life letters will be sent to you together with your pension adjustment notification.
