Post & DHL App

Cellphone settings for accessibility

Improvements to accessibility have been made to the Post & DHL app as of version 9.14. Please make sure you are using the latest version.

Accessibility functions are for people who have impaired vision, hearing or motor control. These functions make it easier to use an Android or iOS cellphone. We support those functions offered by the operating system, such as keyboard adjustments or contrast settings.

Accessibility in the iOS app

  • Tap the "Settings" symbol on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Scroll down and select "Accessibility". You'll find various features to customize the device.
  • You can select such things as "VoiceOver" (screen reader) or "Zoom" and set the switch to "On".
  • Adjust the settings to suit your needs.

Accessibility in the Android app

  • Tap the "Settings" symbol on your Android device.
  • Scroll down and select "Accessibility". You'll find various features to customize the device.
  • You can select such things as "TalkBack" (screen reader) or "Zoom" and set the switch to "On".
  • Adjust the settings to suit your needs.

Accessibility in the Post & DHL App

Our app has two sections that may function differently. Many functions have been designed to be used on our websites and in the app. The app, however, has its own functions that can be operated differently. As a result, operation of the app may differ from the website.

Here are some of the potential differences:

  • Sometimes the level of a heading cannot be read by the screen reader.
  • If you are using a keyboard, the text focus may look different.
  • If an external Bluetooth keyboard is connected and you can't use the Tab button to select the interactive elements, try pressing the Ctrl and Tab buttons simultaneously (STRG and Tab for German keyboards) or the arrows.

We are working to improve the user experience in both areas.

Information by type of disability

Colors and contrasts

  • The texts are designed to be easy to read, using colors that contrast strongly with the background.
  • Colors are not the only things used to display information. We also use symbols.
  • Certain color combinations are avoided (such as red and green) since they can make the text difficult or impossible for some people to read. Only easy-to-distinguish colors are used.

Fonts

  • A clear and easy-to-read font is used.
  • The text is divided up into paragraphs to improve readability.
  • The font size can be adjusted for better legibility.

Changing the font size

  • Text fonts can be enlarged or reduced without impairing their readability or functionality (for example, with Zoom).

Use on all devices

  • Content is designed to ensure no loss of visual quality when viewed on different devices or screens. Everything can be easily read, and nothing is missing or unclear.

Autoplay animations

  • There is no moving content that cannot be stopped or paused.
  • There are no blinking or flashing elements.

Accessible forms

  • Each input field has a visible and clear label, designation or instruction.
  • Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk.
  • If there is an error, a written error message is displayed that is clear and understandable.

Navigation

  • The app has a simple structure and the same clear navigation tools on every screen.

Screen reader

  • We checked our digital offers with the help of the VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) screen readers.
  • Depending on the system, the screen reader was not always able to read the headings levels.
  • There are text alternatives for images, graphics, symbols and control elements that convey information.
  • No alt text is provided for images that are merely decorative and contain no relevant information.
  • Forms have clear labels or designations.
  • Errors have simple explanations.
  • Elements such as links and buttons are clearly labeled.

No autoplay audio content

  • The app does not use sounds or music that plays automatically. That ensures that people with impaired hearing are not distracted.

Keyboard accessibility

  • The application can be used with just a keyboard. No mouse required. All app elements that are clickable, such as forms or buttons, can be selected with the keyboard. The page clearly marks any area that was just selected.

Simple navigation

  • Navigation is simple and the page design is comprehensible. All menu items are clearly labelled and easy to find. There is sufficient space between items so that it's easy to click on the right one.

Size of clickable elements

  • Buttons and links are large enough to be easily clicked.

Errors

  • If the user has entered something incorrectly, the error message is displayed right next to the field. That allows the error to be easily corrected.

Clarity of interactive elements

  • All interactive elements are clearly labelled so that the user can immediately see where to click.

Responsive design

  • The application adjusts automatically to different screen sizes so that it can be used equally well on cellphones, tablets or PCs.

Simple language

  • We try to use simple and clear words so that everyone can understand everything.

Navigation

  • The app has a simple structure and the same clear navigation tools on every screen. All menu items are clearly labelled and easy to find.

Controls

  • The design of input fields and controls is clear and consistent.

Avoiding errors

  • If there is an error, an error message provides help or other information.

Helpful tips

  • Helpful tips and information are provided about what to do next.

Search function

  • There is a simple search tool for finding information quickly.

Visual support

  • We use images and symbols to augment information and make it easier to understand.
