Information for Former Employees with Vested Pension Entitlements

DHL Group adjusted its corporate structure effective 1 September 2026. This change does not affect the amount of, or entitlement to, your vested occupational pension benefits. Below you will find the key information regarding your allocation and the future application process for your occupational pension.

  • 1. Adjustment of the Corporate Structure

    Since 1 September 2026, Deutsche Post AG has been operating under the name DHL AG. At the same time, the Post & Parcel Germany business unit was spun off into a separate company, which continues to operate under the name Deutsche Post AG.

  • 2. Allocation of Former Employees with Vested Pension Entitlements

    As part of this reorganization, former employees have been allocated to the respective companies as follows:

    • Former employees who left the company on or after 1 January 2019 and who were employed within the Post & Parcel Germany business unit will be allocated to the new Deutsche Post AG.

    • Former employees with pension entitlements arising from insurance with the VAP (Versorgungsanstalt der Deutschen Bundespost) who left before 1 May 1997 will also be allocated to the new Deutsche Post AG.

    • All other former employees will be allocated to DHL AG (formerly Deutsche Post AG). This applies in particular to those who

      • left before 1 January 2019 (excluding the VAP-insured individuals mentioned above), or

      • left on or after 1 January 2019 but were not assigned to the Post & Parcel Germany business unit.

    Your allocation to one of the two companies is determined based on these criteria.

  • 3. Implications for Your Future Occupational Pension

    For your vested occupational pension entitlement, this means:

    • Your future occupational pension claim will be against the company to which you are allocated in accordance with the rules outlined above (DHL AG or the new Deutsche Post AG).

    • The amount of your entitlement and the eligibility requirements remain unchanged.

  • 4. Applying for Your Occupational Pension

    Regardless of your allocation, the application process for your occupational pension will continue to be handled through the Renten Service branch office without any changes.
