More than 60% of our delivery fleet is electric!

For around a decade, we have been investing in the electrification of our delivery fleet to ensure that your shipments are delivered CO2e-free. Through our substantial investments, we are not only securing a competitive advantage but also actively shaping the future of e-mobility.

Deutsche Post and DHL operates the largest electric delivery fleet for letters and parcels in Germany. We are proud to say that well over 60% of our vehicle fleet is already electrically powered, representing a crucial step toward reducing CO2e emissions. Each electric vehicle reduces CO2e emissions by more than 4 tonnes per year compared with a conventional delivery vehicle. That is equivalent to an impressive 1,200 liters of diesel saved per electric vehicle. Deutsche Post’s clear leadership position compared with its competitors is also confirmed by the BPEX Sustainability Study*. According to the study, more than 90% of all electric vehicles in the entire CEP market** (2024 figures) belonged to Deutsche Post. By 2026, we had already expanded this share to around 40,000 electric vehicles across our combined mail and parcel delivery operations.

When selecting our vehicles, we rely on trusted partners such as Ford and Mercedes, with whom we have maintained long-standing partnerships, as well as, of course, the StreetScooter developed by Deutsche Post. To ensure the efficient operation of our electric vehicle fleet, we have also invested heavily in expanding charging infrastructure at our operational sites. With around 44,000 charging points, we are the largest private charging infrastructure operator in Germany. And the best part: the batteries of our electric delivery fleet are charged using electricity from renewable energy sources.

We aim to reduce CO2e emissions directly where it matters most: in the communities where we all live and work. This is the vision of Deutsche Post and DHL. Our goal is to protect the climate while positioning ourselves for a sustainable future. That is why we have committed to increasing the share of shipments delivered electrically by our own fleet to 100% in selected regions, such as Bonn, by 2026.***Thanks to our extensive investments in our electric vehicle fleet, we are already providing CO2e-free delivery* in more than one in every three postal code areas and one in every three cities in Germany today.***

And the journey continues... the next electric vehicles have already been ordered.
