Important note: Confirmation of the life certificate is required again in 2022.

In the event that you, as a beneficiary of a Germany pension, live abroad, you will be receiving a life certificate every year, which is usually sent out from June onwards. Please note that you must sign this certificate, have it confirmed by an official authority and then return the original document to Deutsche Post AG Renten Service.

NB: If you live in a country where electronic cross-checking is carried out, you will not receive a life certificate at regular intervals.

This affects the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

In the event you have received a pension adjustment notification without the life certificate form, you are not required to submit a life certificate this year. You do not need to take any further action.

a) The life certificate has been sent to you by mail

If you have received the life certificate form by mail, please check the information in Part A. This part contains all the details that we know about you. If they are correct, please sign the life certificate in person in Part A, have it confirmed by an official body (Part B), and send it back to Deutsche Post AG, Niederlassung Renten Service, 04078 Leipzig, Germany. Please send the life certificate to the Pension Service by October 14, 2022, at the latest.

b) You have not received the life certificate by mid August 2022

If you have not received the pension adjustment notification and life certificate form by mid August 2022, you can download the life certificate yourself from the Pension Service’s download center. Find your form here.

Please complete the life certificate, sign it in person, and have it confirmed by an official body. Please return the life certificate to Deutsche Post AG, Niederlassung Renten Service, 04078 Leipzig, Germany. Full contact details are provided at the end of this notice.

If we have not received your life certificate by October 14, 2022 at the latest, payment of your pension will be suspended.

c) Pension recipients who are unable to complete and sign the life certificate in person

If the pension recipient is unable to write and so cannot complete the life certificate him/herself, a certificate must be enclosed with the life certificate.

If the pension recipient is unable to complete the life certificate him/herself for health reasons, the person who has spoken to the official body must be entered in Part B. Supporting evidence (e.g., doctor’s certificate) must be submitted along with the life certificate.

d) If the pension recipient has died

Please notify the Pension Service of the date of death as soon as possible.

If possible, please use the Pension Service’s change notification form.
